To me, a great piece of art work is like a good book. When reading books, it feels as though the readers gets more out of it than the author; when looking at art the same thing can happen. Perhaps the content of the book opens the readers’ eyes to some meaning of life. Perhaps the colors in a picture strike a chord with the viewer’s memory. To me, a great picture is better than a great book. A picture can be hung at home and looked at countless times; while a book sits in a corner of a bookcase waiting to one day be reopened. It is a goal for me to one day be able to produce artworks that are completely my own. I want to create pieces from within myself rather than from a picture someone took. May it attract people’s eyes through the energy behind it, and not just how complex or how pretty it is. I want to paint a picture that stops people in their tracks and makes them stare at it, that would make me really happy. I don’t know yet how to do that, but it is a goal of mine. Maybe after doing more pieces the strokes and pictures will just flows out of me confidently, and I will become a better artist. If a picture is a thousand words, let mine be a million, a billion. Not just colors and lines on a canvas or paper, but something deeper, deep enough to reach out and grab the should of all who looks upon it.

I have been an artist for as long as I can remember. When I was in Primary school, my artwork was always put on display. Little did I know, as a senior in high school, I would be selected as the “Artist of the Month”.
I made my ceramics piece last year during second semester. I first worked with clay in the 8th grade. Since then, I knew clay was my favorite medium. I was ecstatic to be able to work with clay again at the high school level and produce higher quality pieces.
Art is like my therapy. I get endless enjoyment from it; but it also frustrates me to no end. You can take out your anger, frustration, happiness, inspiration, and depression.
“A guilty conscience needs to confess. A work of art is a confession”. -Albert Camus
